How to Make the Perfect Chicken and Cream Cheese Dip in a 1 Quart Slow Cooker!
A Warm, Smoky Dip That Always Gets Finished First
Hi! If youโve been following me for long youโll already know this, but for those who are new, welcome to Far From The Farm. Iโm Mona, the Brit behind the recipes, learning life and food in the States while sharing our debt-free journey and whatโs on the menu in our home today!
One of the things that completely surprised me after moving to the States was just how big of a deal dips are here.
Warm dips. Cold dips. Game day dips. Party dips.
Back home in the UK, you might have crisps and a bit of something on the side, but it is not quite the same. Here, dips feel like a full event in themselves. Something that gets talked about, shared, tweaked, and brought out for every gathering.
And I love it!
There is something about a warm, creamy dip sitting in the middle of the table that just makes people relax. It feels casual. Comfortable. Easy to share.
This version has become our go-to.
It starts with the classic combination of shredded chicken and cream cheese, but then gets lifted with chipotle hot sauce. Not just heat, but that smoky depth that makes it feel richer, warmer, and just a bit more special than the standard versions.

It is the kind of dip that works for everything. Game nights. Quick hosting. Even just a quiet evening where you want something warm and satisfying without a full meal.
And the best part is how easy it is to make.
Oh, and let me tell you this dip makes the best homemade taquitos ever! Recipe coming I promise!
Using a small 1.5 quart slow cooker means you can throw everything in, walk away, and have it ready exactly when you need it. No last-minute rushing. No juggling pans. It just quietly does its thing in the background.
As a military family working through baby step 2 of our debt free journey, recipes like this have become part of how we host and enjoy food without overspending. Making dips and snacks at home stretches the grocery budget, cuts out unnecessary extras, and still lets us put something genuinely good on the table.
You are not cutting back. You are just doing it smarter.

Equipment
- 1.5 quart slow cooker
- Measuring jug
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Spoon
Available on Amazon.com [ad]
Ingredients
Serves 6 to 8
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend)
- 1/2 cup chipotle hot sauce
- 2 tbsp ranch seasoning
- 1/2 cup milk
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step One: Add the base ingredients
Add the cream cheese, shredded chicken, shredded cheese, and chipotle hot sauce to your mini 1.5 quart slow cooker.
Step Two: Add the liquid mixture
In a small jug, mix the ranch seasoning with the milk, then pour it into the slow cooker.
Step Three: Break it up slightly
The mixture will be very thick at first. Use a spoon to break up the cream cheese block and mix slightly. It does not need to be smooth at this stage.

Step Four: Slow cook
Place the lid on and cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours.
Step Five: Stir regularly
Stir every 30 to 45 minutes, breaking up the cream cheese as it softens. The dip will gradually become smooth and creamy.
Step Six: Serve
Once fully melted and combined, serve straight from the slow cooker with chips, crackers, or vegetables.
And the leftovers make a fantastic taquito filling too!
