Make the dough
- Remove the bread machine pan. Add the warm milk, honey, and yeast. Stir gently.Cover the top loosely with plastic wrap and let it sit 5 to 10 minutes until foamy. No foam means your yeast is inactive and you need to start again.
- Add the egg and butter to the yeast mixture. You do not need to stir anything. Then add the bread flour on top.Make a small well or dent in the middle of the flour and place the salt inside the well. Lightly cover the salt with flour so it does not touch the yeast too early.Place the pan back into the bread machine.
- Select Dough cycle. Let the machine knead and rise the dough fully. Most machines take around 1 hour 30 minutes. When the cycle finishes, remove the dough.
- Dust your counter lightly with flour.Roll the dough into a large rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.Fold the rectangle in half like a book.Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into 18 squares. Three rows by six rows works well.Place the squares on a lined baking sheet, leaving slight space between each one.Let the rolls rest for 10 to 15 minutes, covered.
Bake the rolls
- After they've rested, bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes until lightly golden on top.
Make the cinnamon honey butter
- Whilst the rolls are baking make the cinnamon honey butter.
- Beat the softened butter with a hand mixer.
- Add powdered sugar slowly.
- Mix in cinnamon and honey until fluffy.
- Store in the fridge and soften before serving.
Serve Warm
- When the rolls are baked and still warm, brush them with a little of the cinnamon honey butter melted for that classic shine and sweet barely-there hint of a buttery glaze!

Notes
- Warm milk and honey help the rolls turn extra soft.
- Folding the dough gives a layered, pillowy texture.
- These freeze very well once baked.
Storage
- Store baked rolls in an airtight tub for up to three days. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to bring back that fresh, soft bakery texture.
- You can also freeze the raw dough right after the bread machine dough cycle finishes. Shape it into a ball, wrap it tightly, and freeze for up to two months. Thaw overnight in the fridge or on the counter for a few hours, then shape, rest, and bake as usual.
- Baked rolls can also be frozen for up to two months. Let them cool completely, wrap well, and reheat in a warm oven until soft again.
