Method
- Prep the yeast: Remove the pan insert from your bread machine. Add the warm water, sweetened condensed milk, sugar, and active dry yeast into the pan.
- Proof: Give everything a quick stir, cover the pan with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel, and leave for 5 to 10 minutes until bubbly and frothy.
- Verify yeast is active: Check the yeast. If it isn't bubbly after 10 minutes, discard and start fresh so your dough doesn't turn out flat.
- Add ube powder, eggs and butter: Add the ube powder, eggs, and cold cubed salted butter directly into the pan. Do not stir.
- Add flour: Add the all-purpose flour directly on top of the wet ingredients.
- Add the salt: Make a small well in the top of the flour, add the salt into that well, and cover it with a little surrounding flour to protect the yeast.
- Run dough cycle: Place the pan back into the machine, select the Dough Cycle, and press start (typically 1 hour and 30 minutes and includes the first rise).
- Portion dough: Tip the purple dough onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 24 equal pieces.
- Roll out: Roll one piece of dough at a time into a small, flattened circle or oval.
- Fill and seal: Add 2 teaspoons of Jif Peanut Butter and Chocolate Flavor Spread to the center. Pull the edges up, pinch the seams tightly shut to prevent leaking, and place seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat for all rolls.
- Second rise: Cover the shaped rolls with plastic wrap or a towel and let them rise for about 1 hour until puffy and doubled.
- Bake until fluffy: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15 minutes until the tops are cooked through and lightly golden, and the buns are fluffy inside.

- Cool and store: Transfer the rolls to a cooling rack. Let them cool completely before eating or wrapping individually in plastic wrap for easy snacks.
Notes
- Ube powder can vary by brand, so the color of your rolls may be lighter or darker.
- Do not overfill the rolls or the filling may leak during baking.
- No egg wash is needed for this recipe.
- Use only a light dusting of flour when shaping so the rolls stay soft.
- The filling will be very hot straight from the oven.
- These rolls are lovely warm, cooled, or reheated.
Storage
- Store cooled rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- For longer storage, wrap each cooled roll individually in plastic wrap and place in a large container or zip top food bag.
