Spoiler alert – YES – I really DID start a blog on an iPad – and you’re reading it now!
I’ve had so many people ask me about the physical equipment I use for blogging, so I decided to share my much-asked-for list. Some doubted I could start a blog with just my iPad. I want to show that whether you’re a stay-at-home wife, a busy professional, or just someone with a passion for writing, you can start a blog with minimal equipment and investment and with basically zero starting knowledge of blogging. Here’s how I did it, so you can too.

1. M4 iPad Pro
First things first, my [ad] M4 iPad Pro from Amazon.com. I picked the 11-inch model, and I have zero regrets. I didn’t buy this specifically for blogging; I replaced my ten year old MacBook (yes you read that right) with it earlier in the year and didn’t feel the need to upgrade to a laptop without giving it a go. I’m still using it today, two months in!
It’s currently also serving as my only camera for taking high-quality shots because of my cellphone situation (more on that later). I’ve never been one to be led by the newest trends in tech so honestly I’m really quite content with my current set up.

2. Apple Pencil Pro
The [ad] Apple Pencil Pro from Amazon.com is a game-changer, especially when using apps like Canva. It makes designing graphics and editing photos an absolute dream. If you want precision and ease even as a newbie to graphic design like me, this is an absolute must-have. It’s now magnetic and sits directly on the iPad making it easier to avoid losing it accidentally. Plus in true Apple style it is just absolutely gorgeous to look at and to use.
3. Magic Keyboard
The [ad] Magic Keyboard from Amazon.com is another essential. It seamlessly pairs with the iPad Pro and truly makes it feel like a laptop. Typing on it is a breeze, and it has transformed my iPad into a versatile blogging machine.
I went with the Space Black options for both my iPad Pro and the Magic Keyboard – and if I’m being totally honest I think I would have rather had the silver keyboard. It looks amazing in the black but I do have to clean smudges and dust from it almost daily because I have major Type A issues.
Check out my actual set up in my video below:

4. iPhone SE
Okay, I have zero excuses for still having an old [ad] iPhone SE from Amazon.com, except that I need to upgrade soon, and I’m REALLY GOING TO MISS THE LITTLE BUTTON THAT YOU CLICK. But for now, it gets the job done, and I use it for quick snaps and social media updates.
5. Personalized iPhone Cases
I always carry a picture of my hubby with me, and I love [ad] these personalized cases from Amazon.com for any cellphone. They add a touch of personality and make my phone feel unique.
6. BIC 4-Color Retractable Ball Pens
A beloved remnant from my 90’s school days is the actually AWESOME [ad] 4-Color BIC pen from Amazon.com. Can there be any more joyful a thing than that little satisfactory click the pen makes when you change colors? They now do them in sparkly colors and I am currently loving this pink one – oh what a time to be alive! If you don’t like them we simply can’t be friends.
7. Pastel Notebooks
I’m Type A and OBSESSED with lists but not yet fully swung over to the digital planner side. Don’t judge me, I’m trying! I always buy [ad] pastel notebooks in packs from Amazon.com because I like to color-code different areas of life to make plans and lists for. You’ll usually find me pouring over my lists at various points in the day – I’m one of those people who gets enormous satisfaction from writing daily goals and checking them off one by one as I go. It’s actually been a super useful part of my personality that has helped to remain motivated without being in a team like I was used to for 20+ years.
8. Dedicated Carry-On
The perfect thing about blogging is that you can do it from almost anywhere. I keep a little dedicated Carry-On suitcase on hand with all my essential when I travel and then I’m good to go. Plane delayed? No problem I’ll work in the coffee shops in airports and make the most of the time.
I love this [ad] London suitcase cover from Amazon.com (Brit here, gotta represent) If you’re looking to represent the Empire anytime soon, LOL.
9. Godinger Wood Cake Tray with Nest Detail
Lastly, I keep this sweet little [ad] bird nest style cake tray by Godinger from Amazon.com on my dining table to hide away some of our frequently used items and keep the area tidy. This way, I’m able to work ASAP when the moment calls and reset the area just as speedily once I’m done. I’m all about making life easier in my home I really do try hard to embrace the minimal mindset wherever we can not least because my husband has ADHD and clean, clutter free spaces really make such a difference in his mental clarity.

Start Blogging with Minimal Investment
The point of this article is to encourage you that whatever your circumstances, you can start a blog. Don’t rush into buying a ton of equipment. This really is all that I have, and I will upgrade only as and when I hit certain monetary milestones along the way. I’m in the middle of a super busy and expensive season personally, and I want to be sensible with my resources.
